A coordinated terrorist assault struck a Pakistani army compound in Mir Ali, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, near the Afghan border, resulting in fierce gunfire, a massive blast, and multiple fatalities. Security sources say a suicide car bomber rammed into the base’s perimeter to initiate the attack, followed by heavily armed militants storming the site.
According to police, the ongoing shoot-out concluded with six attackers killed. One soldier also lost his life in the incident. The explosion inflicted structural damage to base defenses and nearby homes.
This strike comes just days after Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to a ceasefire aimed at easing cross-border tensions. The attack, meanwhile, underscores the fragility of security along the frontier and raises serious questions about militant infiltration during ceasefire lulls.
