In a major step towards Digital Pakistan, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new online appointment system that allows citizens to book their visit in advance, ending the culture of long queues at registration centers.
The initiative, launched through the Pak-ID mobile application and NADRA’s official website, is aimed at making services more convenient, reducing waiting times, and streamlining the overall process for millions of Pakistanis who visit NADRA offices every year.
How the System Works
The new system allows citizens to:
- Select their preferred NADRA Registration Center (NRC).
- Choose a suitable date and time slot for their appointment.
- Receive confirmation directly on their mobile phone.
- Arrive at the center knowing exactly when they will be served.
NADRA officials have urged applicants to reach the center at least 10 minutes before their appointment to ensure smooth processing.
Services Covered
The appointment system is integrated with multiple NADRA services, including:
- Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) issuance and renewal.
- Child Registration Certificates (CRC).
- Family Registration Certificates (FRC).
- Other identity management and verification services.
In addition, NADRA has expanded its online fee payment options. Applicants can now pay via Easypaisa, JazzCash, NADRA e-Sahulat outlets, credit/debit cards, and even QR codes, further reducing the need for physical visits.
Why This Matters
For decades, citizens have had to stand in long lines for hours — sometimes even days — to complete routine NADRA tasks. The new online booking system is a direct solution to:
- Overcrowding at NADRA centers.
- Time wastage due to uncertain wait times.
- Inefficiency in handling large volumes of applicants.
By bringing appointment management online, NADRA hopes to make its centers more organized and its services more accessible.
Step Towards Digital Pakistan
This move is part of the broader Digital Pakistan vision, which emphasizes digital transformation of public services. By adopting modern technology, NADRA is not only simplifying access for citizens but also improving transparency and efficiency.
Officials have stated that more digital services will be rolled out in the near future, further reducing the need for in-person visits.
Public Response
The announcement has been widely welcomed on social media, where citizens praised NADRA for finally addressing one of the most frustrating aspects of its services: waiting in long queues. Many believe this step will save time, reduce stress, and improve public trust in government institutions.
With the introduction of its online appointment booking system, NADRA has taken a significant step forward in making governance citizen-friendly. If implemented effectively, the system could become a model for other government departments across Pakistan, bringing the dream of Digital Pakistan closer to reality.
