As Pakistan’s education ecosystem moves through a critical phase of digital transformation, EDUMAN has emerged as a purpose-built school management ERP aimed at simplifying both academic and administrative operations. At the heart of this journey is Sohail Tareen, Managing Director of EDUMAN, whose more than four decades of hands-on experience in IT systems, infrastructure, and enterprise technology shape the platform’s vision and execution.

A Career Built on Enterprise Scale Technology

Sohail Tareen brings over 40 years of professional experience to EDUMAN. Armed with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, he began his career as an MIS Manager in Pakistan’s coal mining sector in an environment defined by logistical complexity and operational scale. Over nearly a decade, he designed and managed information systems where reliability and precision were non-negotiable.

Relocating to Karachi marked a defining phase in his career. He went on to work with established IT organizations such as Ora-Tech Systems Pvt Ltd and Micro Innovation & Technologies Pvt Ltd, where he led and delivered high-complexity projects across multiple mission-critical domains, including:

  • Healthcare systems
  • Law enforcement infrastructure
  • Banking and insurance platforms
  • Data center architecture and enterprise infrastructure
  • Cybersecurity and large-scale network deployments

This exposure to enterprise-grade systems gave him a deep understanding of scalability, resilience, and operational integrity—principles that later became foundational to EDUMAN’s architecture.

A Deeply Held Belief in Technology-Enabled Education

For Tareen, education is not just a sector—it is the backbone of national development, and one that cannot function efficiently without structured systems.

“The education system outlines the backbone of every nation. Technology can play a very crucial role in streamlining the whole system of education. Strengthening the connection between students, staff, parents, and management is essential in today’s fast-growing educational environment.”

This belief is not theoretical. It directly informs EDUMAN’s design philosophy and long-term roadmap.

How EDUMAN Took Shape

Around six years ago, Tareen and his team conducted extensive surveys and on-ground assessments across Pakistan’s education landscape. The conclusion was consistent across institutions of all sizes:
schools lacked a standardized, cloud-based ERP capable of managing end-to-end operations under one unified system.

Admissions, academics, fees, HR, reporting everything existed in silos.

At the same time, Tareen was convinced that Pakistan’s technical talent was more than capable of building systems on par with global enterprise platforms.

“Allah has blessed Pakistan with extraordinary talent, especially in the IT sector. So why can’t we build ERPs like SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft? With EDUMAN, we set out to build a world-class ERP designed specifically for educational institutions and accessible to every school, large or small.”

Addressing the Core Problem in School Management

Manual workflows remain one of the biggest structural weaknesses in Pakistan’s education sector. From paper-based records to fragmented spreadsheets, administrative staff spend a disproportionate amount of time on clerical work.

EDUMAN was built to eliminate that burden.

“Our goal was to automate school management processes so teachers and administrators can focus on education not files, registers, or disconnected data.”

By centralizing operations into a single cloud-based platform, EDUMAN improves data accuracy, transparency, and institutional decision-making without adding operational complexity.

A Vision That Includes Every School

Tareen’s ambition is not limited to elite schools or large education networks. His focus is inclusivity.

“Our goal is to bring EDUMAN to every school in Pakistan whether it’s a major education group or a small neighborhood school.”

This vision aligns with Pakistan’s broader shift toward digital governance, structured data, and technology-assisted institutional management.

What Lies Ahead: AI, Analytics, and Student Well-Being

EDUMAN is now entering its next phase of evolution. The platform is expanding its AI-driven capabilities and strengthening its analytics engine to move beyond automation into intelligent insights.

Key initiatives currently underway include:

  • AI-powered academic and administrative analytics
  • Predictive insights for institutional planning
  • Tools for monitoring students’ physical and mental well-being
  • AI-based behavioral and developmental assessment models
  • Enhancements to the Terbia module, enabling parents to reinforce discipline, Islamic values, and social etiquette at home

These developments reflect EDUMAN’s commitment not only to digitizing schools, but to supporting the holistic development of students.

A Clear Message to Schools Still Operating Manually

Tareen’s message to institutions still relying on files and spreadsheets is direct and pragmatic:

“It’s time to digitize. If you are still maintaining records manually, you will be left behind.”

As education systems worldwide become increasingly data-driven and connected, delaying digital adoption only widens operational and quality gaps.

“The future of education is organized, connected, and data-driven.”
