A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly seeking a permanent ban on TikTok in Pakistan, citing concerns over vulgarity, obscenity, and the negative influence of the app on the country’s youth.

The resolution, moved by opposition lawmaker Farrukh Javed, argues that TikTok has become a platform promoting “immoral behavior” through its content and live chat features. According to the text, the so-called “TikTok mafia” is allegedly pushing young users, including children, toward inappropriate conversations and a culture of cheap fame and money.

It further claims that such trends are eroding Islamic and social values, warning of serious risks to the moral fabric of society. “TikTok is luring the younger generation into a culture that undermines our values,” the resolution states, urging decisive measures to curb the platform’s influence.

The resolution calls on the Provincial Assembly of Punjab to press the federal government for an immediate and permanent ban on TikTok and its live chat option. The stated aim is to protect Pakistan’s children and youth from what it describes as moral and ethical collapse.

TikTok has faced repeated bans in Pakistan in recent years over similar allegations of “immoral and indecent content.” However, the app remains one of the most widely used social media platforms in the country, particularly among young people.
