University Road to remain closed in Karachi from November 10 to December 30 for water pipeline installation under the K-4 project, according to officials from the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP).
The closure is part of ongoing work to install 2.7 kilometres of water pipelines under the K-4 water supply scheme.
In a statement, authorities said the project involves laying 96-inch and 72-inch water lines between NIPA Chowrangi and the Federal Urdu University.
The initiative will proceed in two phases: the first phase covering NIPA Chowrangi to Federal Urdu University, and the second from Hasan Square to NIPA Chowrangi.
However, officials said the work is scheduled to be completed by December 30, 2025.
To manage traffic flow, vehicles will be diverted via NIPA Chowrangi toward Aladin Park as an alternative route.
Furthermore, authorities urged commuters to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with the development work.
The KWSSIP noted that this project forms part of the broader K-4 initiative aimed at improving Karachi’s water distribution network.
Commuters have already been facing difficulties along University Road, where the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project has been under construction for three years, leaving sections of the road damaged and incomplete.
