A major milestone in cultural and cinematic exchange has been reached as HKC Entertainment, in collaboration with Mandviwalla Entertainment, prepares to release the Chinese animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2 in cinemas across Pakistan on Friday, 31 October 2025.
This marks a historic moment — Ne Zha 2 becomes the first Chinese film in recent years to be officially imported and distributed in Pakistan, paving the way for renewed cross-border collaboration in the film industry.
Already a global phenomenon, Ne Zha 2 has broken multiple records — now recognized as the world’s highest-grossing animated film, the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time, and China’s top-earning film ever, with over US$2.2 billion in worldwide box office earnings. Pakistani audiences will now get to experience its stunning visuals and emotionally charged storytelling on the big screen.
The film’s official premiere was attended by Counsellor H.E. Mr. Shi Yuanqiang, marking a moment of cultural diplomacy between Pakistan and China.
To cater to diverse audiences, Ne Zha 2 will screen in two versions across Pakistan — the original Chinese version with English subtitles and a specially dubbed Urdu version.
Joyce Lee, Managing Director of Encore Films, expressed excitement over the release:
“Ne Zha 2 is a milestone film that has broken records across Asia. We’re thrilled to partner with HKC Entertainment and Mandviwalla Entertainment to bring this magical masterpiece to Pakistan. We look forward to sharing Ne Zha’s story with audiences here, alongside our valued cinema partners.”
Voices from the Premiere
H.E. Mr. Shi Yuanqiang, Minister Counsellor Charge d’Affaires, highlighted the diplomatic significance of the release:
“Bringing a cultural landmark like Ne Zha 2 to Pakistan strengthens our friendship beyond trade and development. It builds a cultural bridge that allows Pakistanis to experience the best of modern Chinese cinema — a shining example of the Pakistan-China Ironclad Friendship.”
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla emphasized the political and cultural depth of the collaboration:
“The release of Ne Zha 2 is more than a cinematic event — it reflects the enduring bond between Pakistan and China. Under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, this ‘Iron Brother’ friendship continues to grow. Bringing China’s biggest film to Pakistan while preparing The Legend of Maula Jatt for release in China proves that this partnership now extends powerfully into arts and media.”
Sardar Yasir Illyas, Advisor and National Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Tourism, noted the broader impact:
“This exchange is a game-changer for regional cinema. As Ne Zha 2 arrives in Pakistan and The Legend of Maula Jatt prepares for its China release, we’re witnessing a true two-way cultural flow — one that strengthens our creative industries and global visibility.”
Two-Way Cinematic Partnership
The release of Ne Zha 2 coincides with another landmark development — Pakistan’s own record-breaking film The Legend of Maula Jatt is set to release in China in November/December 2025. Approved by China Film Group under the official quota system, it will be screened on a revenue-sharing basis — the first-ever Pakistani film to do so.
This mutual exchange not only celebrates the growing bond between Pakistan and China but also opens a new chapter for regional cinema, expanding creative collaboration across borders.
Long Live Pakistan–China Ironclad Friendship!
